PR - Top Tip - use other people's news

It can be hard work trying to think of angles for your PR. Don’t forget that responding to other people’s news or topics of debate are great ways to get positive press and media coverage.
Look at the relevant press and identify where there are opportunities to make a comment by writing a letter to the editor. If you have a different angle on a story or disagree with what has been published then you could also contact the journalist direct to see if they would be interested in an article that presents a different view.
If you do this on regularly you will build your reputation as an expert or guru in your field and journalists will be encouraged to seek you out for comment – the ideal PR result!

Get Control of Your Email!

Limit when you check emails. Hundreds come flooding in each day so make a point of looking at them three or four times a day at a planned time and then responding or taking action as appropriate. It makes your time much more effective and you don’t allow your incoming messages to interrupt you.

The Power of an Ecademy Poll!

I recently posted a poll on Ecademy on "Have you ever turned business away?"

I was amazed by the amount of people who voted, I received over 180 votes together with 40 comments.

Nearly half (49%) of small businesses have been forced to turn down work. Results showed that 13% of respondents had turned business away because they didn’t have enough time to do the work. Some 30% reported that they had turned down work because they didn’t have the relevant expertise to do it. Respondents also cited ‘ethical’ reasons, lack of staff, unrealistic demands and lack of trust or confidence in the potential client for turning down business.
