I was delighted to have recently appeared in The Gazette newspaper. It was all rather exciting being interviewed and having a photographer come to the house!

Networking with purpose

We all know that networking is an invaluable business tool. However, it’s so easy to turn up at a networking meeting, chat to lots of people and then come away and wonder what that achieved, other than a fistful of business cards.

Before you go to a networking event make sure you are focused on what you want to achieve from it, for instance: meet three new contacts locally that you could do business with either as a potential client, a supplier or a partner. Or to find one person whom you can connect with another contact of yours.

And don’t forget to follow up your contacts – or ask your VA or PA to do that for you.

Top Tip - Focus

There are more books on time management than you can ever read, however, the one thing that they all demand is that you take action and change the way you work.

If you want to ensure you achieve something worthwhile every day review what you have to do each day and then pick one task that you must get done. Do that one first – you’ll be surprised what achieving one task will do for your motivation to go on and achieve more!

3rd Birthday Party

I have been extremely busy recently organising a very important party... My daughter Emily's 3rd birthday party!!! I'm pleased to say that the day was a huge success and Emily and all her friends had so much fun. There was music, dancing and lots of yummy cake!

Have you ever been forced to turn business away?

I mentioned that last month I posted a poll on Ecademy, the social business network, asking whether businesses have been forced to turn away work. I was amazed at the huge response and the findings. Some 49% of small businesses that responded had, in fact, been forced to turn down work because they didn’t have the time or expertise to do it.
